Classes end
The Council's By-laws call for meetings to normally end by 5 p.m. Each meeting has an open session and often a closed session.
Open Session
The open session of Faculty Council is open to all faculty and to the public. The Provost and/or a representative of the Provost normally attends this open session. The public press is also normally in attendance and they do pay attention to what Council members have to say.
Closed Session
Almost always, Council concludes with a closed session for the purpose of discussing matters that involve personnel, typically appointments to various campus committees. Only Council members attend the closed session and all matters discussed therein are strictly confidential. Only the results of closed session are reported to appropriate bodies. The agenda for each Council meeting is prepared by the Chair in consultation with the Executive Committee of Faculty Council in a regularly scheduled meeting that normally occurs on the Thursday preceding the next Council meeting.
Please be advised this schedule may be subject to change.
