Leona Rubin
Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine Executive Committee member Leona Rubin is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Sciences in the College of Veterinary Medicine. She received a PhD in Structural and Cellular Biology from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and was an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at Washington University Medical School in St. Louis before coming to MU. Her research interests focus on second messenger and cellular signaling mechanisms, primarily in cardiovascular tissues such as vascular and cardiac muscle. She teaches Microscopic Anatomy to first year veterinary students and is course director of Veterinary Pharmacology for second year veterinary students. Having been raised in the inner city of Philadelphia, where grass is a weed that grows between the concrete blocks, her current passion is maintaining a 20 acre hobby farm complete with orchard and vineyard (yes, we make wine!).
