Stephen Montgomery-Smith joined the Mathematics Faculty in 1988, was promoted to Associate Professor in 1995, and Full Professor in 1999. He was awarded with the Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Research/Creative Activity 2000. More recently, Dr. Montgomery-Smith has become very involved in the local chapter of the American Association of University Professors, holding the title of co-vice President since 2008. He also has a strong interest in encouraging more interdisciplinary studies. He has ongoing projects, in research and education, with Engineering and Life Sciences.
