Clark Gantzer
Associate Professor of Soil, Environment and Atmospheric Sciences Recorder for Faculty Council Clark Gantzer is Professor of Soil Science in the School of Natural Resources and the College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources. He received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Soil Science from University of Minnesota. After postdoctoral work at the National Sedimentation Lab in Oxford, MS, he joined the MU faculty in January 1982, as Assistant Professor, rising to Associate Professor in 1986 and Professor in 2006. He has served on review panels for the US Department of Agriculture, as well as on the editorial board of the Soil Science Society of America Journal. He is married to Alice Calhoun, a self-employed copper artist.
Professor Gantzer's research and teaching in environmental soil science focus on measurement and prediction of soil erosion, measurement of soil structure and its relationship to soil quality, and improved soil and water conservation. He received the MU Chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta - Senior Research Award in 2004. He currently serves as the University of Missouri Chapter President of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Honor Society, an international, multidisciplinary research society whose programs and activities promote the health of the scientific enterprise and honor scientific achievement.
